Visiting Physicians Research Program (APM 430)

Introduction

The Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Surgery is pleased to offer the Visiting Physician Research Program. This program is designed for international scholars who are currently on sabbatical from their academic appointments at their home institutions and are interested in engaging in a short-term research or academic project with a faculty sponsor from the Division. Application Requirements
  • Application lead time: 6 months 
  • Visa sponsorship: Yes;  J1 visa.  
  • Duration: 4-6 months; up to 1 year
  • Terminal degree: Medical Degree 
  • APM 430 Application
  • Immunization Record: (TB/Chest X-ray/QuantiFERON, Rubella, Measles, Mumps, Varicella, Hep B, TDAP, Flu, Covid Vaccine/Booster record) 
  • A copy of my resume / CV Bank statement/ Institutional Funding Letter
  • Certificate of Insurance: Please refer to the UCSF ISSO website.
  • Minimum Funding Requirements: Please refer to the UCSF ISSO website. 
  • Pick up a badge from the UCSF WEID office. 
  • Scholars will be responsible for all visa-related fees. 
  • UCSF ISSO visa recharge fees
  • UCSF Badge fee $50
  • For UCSF ISSO visa recharge fees and badge fees, please make checks payable to UC Regents. You may give it to your UCSF representative when you arrive at the campus.
  • Only selected applicants will receive the application form. All selected applications must be approved by the division, department, and human resources. 
  • Due to limited space, only 1-2 scholars will be accepted per year. We will contact the applicant for further action if any additional information is required.

Visiting Physicians Observership Program

Introduction

The Division of Vascular Surgery & Endovascular Surgery is pleased to offer the Visiting Physician Observership Program, which allows international or local physicians to observe surgical procedures at UCSF Health/Medical Center. This program is designed for observational purposes only, and observers will not be permitted to offer any form of patient care or advice during their visit. For inquiries, please contact our faculty directly.

Application Requirements
  • Application lead time: 3-4 months
  • Visa sponsorship: None; visitors will obtain B1 on their own.
  • Duration: 1-3 days
  • Terminal degree: Medical Degree
  • Observership Application
  • Immunization Record: (TB/Chest X-ray/QuantiFERON, Rubella, Measles, Mumps, Varicella, Hep B, TDAP, Flu, Covid Vaccine/Booster record)
  • A copy of my resume / CV
  • Scholars will be responsible for all visa fees.

Student Volunteer Program

Introduction

The Division of Vascular Surgery & Endovascular Surgery is dedicated to offering college students a chance to acquire fundamental laboratory experience. In this program, students will learn various molecular biology techniques and explore the development of device technology for aneurysms, as well as novel biologic therapies to improve the outcomes of bypass surgery, promote new blood vessel growth, and ameliorate the progression of PAD. Please note that this opportunity is solely for laboratory work and does not involve any patient care or observation. For inquiries, please contact our Labs/ principal investigators directly.

UC Students Affiliate Program

Introduction

UC student affiliate program is intended for enrolled/registered UC students (not UC extension) who are seeking short-term experience in research or other academic project under the supervision of an academic appointee or principal investigator. Students will not be allowed to participate in any clinical observations. The time spent at UCSF during the school year should not exceed 49% time. For inquiries, please contact our Labs/ principal investigators directly.

Application Requirements
  • Application lead time: 3-4 months
  • Duration: 1 semester to (may be extended up to 1 year)
  • Current Enrollment Certificate and upcoming semester
  • A copy of CV
  • UC Student Applicant Form
  • UC Student Affiliation Department Coversheet
  • UC Student ID card 
  • Confidential statement
  • Medical Clearance
